Imogen Rodgers: Miss Brodie is a very brave woman. In her mid-forties, she is childless and unmarried. None of this through choice. A hundred years ago, she would have been called a spinster and be expected to school her brother's children in return for an attic room and protection from the work house as well as social Siberia. But thanks to Feminism and The Pankhursts et al, she can exist in this world with an element of dignity, earn money,get a job, look after herself. Thus,she is exploring unchartered territory, where there are precious few scripts by other authors to follow a less bizarre and terrifying path. After a life of being an actress/street artist/musician/reporter, she has managed to slip under the radar late in life and get into 'the teaching profession'. She is currently sampling Western Europe (one of the few places on the planet where women have equal rights) via her trade and has a distant hope of finding a niche to snuggle into.. somehow... somewhere.
